Articulate your Goals

This section will generally start with a Mission Statement and a Vision Statement. Constructing (or updating) the mission and vision statements is usually done during strategic planning.

Strategic and annual business plans are then constructed around these stated goals. While I used to believe in 5 year strategic plans, I now recommend well thought out 3 year plans - the world can change quickly.

If the task at hand is to develop a more specific sales strategy, the mission and vision may be as specific as closing a single sale.

 Mission

In its most basic form, the mission statement describes the overall purpose of the organization.

 Vision

The vision statement includes a complete description of the organization sometime in the future after it successfully carries out all its plans.
